CSH Surrey launches EBO’s AI-powered patient portal, a first for social enterprises serving the NHS

Patients using CSH Surrey’s podiatry service now have easier access to appointment information and support through a new digital portal, designed in collaboration with EBO, to help them stay connected with their care. The service is the first of its kind to be introduced by a social enterprise delivering NHS community services.

CSH Surrey chooses EBO's AI Patient Portal

Effortless appointment viewing

The portal, known as ‘MyHealth at CSH Patient Engagement Portal’ at CSH Surrey, allows patients to quickly view their podiatry appointments and visit details with minimal effort. A built-in Virtual Assistant, driven by conversational AI enables patients to ask appointment-related questions and receive answers through natural, two-way dialogue,  providing round-the-clock support and helping to free up capacity for frontline staff.

"We want accessing care and information to be as simple and convenient as possible for our patients. Our partnership with EBO and the MyHealth App, integrated with the NHS App, will put patients firmly in the driving seat, giving them greater visibility of their appointments, letters and information and helping them play a more active role in their care. It also supports our wider Digital Strategy and Green Plan by reducing administrative processes and enabling more efficient, sustainable digital communications.”

Direct integration into EMIS EPR

The portal integrates directly into the NHS App as well as with the organisation’s Electronic Patient Record system, EMIS, ensuring continuity across digital touchpoints. It adheres to national standards for clinical safety, information governance and cybersecurity.

Appointment management up next

In the next phase patients will be able to independently manage routine aspects of their care including booking, rescheduling and cancelling appointments, without needing to contact the team directly. By automating these everyday interactions, the portal reduces administrative pressure and allows operational staff to focus their efforts where they matter most; delivering frontline care.

"Digital transformation should be practical and deliver real outcomes. Working with CSH Surrey, we are embedding conversational AI directly into patient pathways, making services easier to access and creating tangible efficiencies. Above all, the technology is built to feel human, offering patients a experience that is both intuitive and genuinely inclusive."

Impactful results

EBO’s Intelligent Patient Portal has already delivered measurable results across the NHS, with a 25–30% reduction in did-not-attend rates (DNAs), considerable administrative time savings, and patient satisfaction scores exceeding 94%.

Inclusion is woven into every aspect of the platform by supporting over 100 languages, offering voice-enabled functionality, and adjusting content to suit varying reading levels. This ensures that all patients, regardless of background or ability, can engage with their care with confidence.
